First Haircut!!

Well, today was a day that I was actually dreading because I was so afraid that Marissa would not cooperate to get her first hair cut! However, Marissa did OUTSTANDING today at the hair salon! I was so proud of her I almost cried. Unfortunately, Phillip works on Saturdays, so my Mom, Dad and brother all went with me to Cookie Cutters to get her first haircut. I say haircut, but it was barely a trim. We just wanted to have her hair evened up a little. It's such a cool place where the kids can pick a car (train, tractor, etc.) and sit in that while they get their hair cut. They also have a TV in front of the car that they can watch as well. It's the neatest place and such a great idea for a salon. It's pricey, for sure, but worth it. We wanted it to be special her first time and in case she was scared. It didn't hurt that when we walked in the place, there was an indoor slide! Marissa was in heaven! At the end, she got a balloon and a certificate with a little bag attached with locks of her hair. Afterwards we went to the mall and then to Texas Roadhouse. It was such a nice day and I'm so happy that my family could be there to be a part of it all! Highly recommend Cookie Cutters for kids if you have one in your area!!

A little video of Marissa during the haircut! (thanks Uncle Chad!)

It's Wednesday!!

Has anyone else been watching the Olympics? I'm so interested in them this year for some reason. The opening ceremonies was the most awesome thing I have ever seen, but I'm really upset about the little "scandal" about the little Chinese girl that appeared on there lip-synching a song sang by another child. If you haven't caught the news on this, apparently the Chinese officials didn't want the World to see China as "less than perfect" with a little girl with not so perfect teeth and not as "cute" as the other girl. The little girl they showed, I've read, actually has done TV commercials and such. I'm appalled at this! We are again teaching our kids that beauty is more important than anything else! And if you saw the article, you'd see that the actual little girl who sang the song is absolutely cute, adorable and beautiful!!! Okay, I'll get off my soapbox, but shame on China for assuming what "we"/the World want to see! All children are beautiful...

As for other news, there isn't much! We went to a family reunion for Phillip's side last weekend and Marissa had a ball playing with her cousins!

Chad (my brother) is in Las Vegas on vacation with a friend of his from college and they lost his friend's luggage. What a hassle... I hope this doesn't put a damper on the trip, but I'm sure it most certainly will affect it.

The addition progress seems to be getting slower and slower, and I'm not certain that it will be finished by Aug. 29 as planned. We'll see...

Thanks for reading my blog!!

We have paint!

Here is how it looks with one coat of paint on it! Trim and fixtures will go in next week and carpet will be installed in 3 weeks and then it will be finished....sigh....this has been so stressful!

Marissa cannot understand why she can't go out there to play and cries almost every time when we have to go back in the old house...haha!

Just updating my blog and thanks for looking!

Hump day

Wow, it's already Wednesday!! The temperatures in Indiana have finally gone down a little bit and making it more bearable to be outside! This is good news for Marissa, who loves being outside. My parents took her to the public pool this week and she was afraid of the water! Well, we aren't sure if that was really it or that she really just wanted to go down the big slide and Grandma and Grandpa didn't want to attempt that! She showed no interest in the pool and kept wanting to leave! ha! This is so bizarre because our girl LOVES water...playing in it...watering flowers...doing dishes (for now at least!)...etc. She also really loved the indoor water park we took her to a few months ago. We aren't sure what is up with her! I guess kids are just not predictable at all, are they?

Our room addition is getting painted today and tomorrow, so it's really coming together! I think it will be completely finished in about 2-3 weeks. We are anxious for this, as our house is very very small and it's amazing how one extra person in it makes it seem even smaller! It's funny how back in the 60's when our home was built, it was more than adequate for a family our size! A 1,200 square foot home with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths was perfect, but now this is considered "small". However, I really do think that people, in general, have more "stuff" now that clutters our homes...not to mention all the toys of a 2 year old!

Have a super day everyone!

Thank Goodness It's Friday!

Well, Friday is here and so happy it's almost the weekend!!

Last night my little girl wore one of my outfits I wore as a child and it was so cool! My Mom kept so many of my outfits and it is so cool when she'll surprise me and put Marissa in one of them! I'll attach a picture, but it's a little "garden" outfit. The little stinker wouldn't look at me long enough to take a good picture, but you can get the idea.

Operation Room Addition is still going well. The drywall is up (and it totally changes how it looks!) and our fireplace is in. The paint is picked out for the family room, but I need to pick out a theme for the bathroom. Any ideas would be appreciated! I'm thinking a garden theme, perhaps.

This weekend is supposed to be a super hot one in Indiana, so I'm not sure what we will get into. We may just very well play inside in the a/c!

Hope all of your weekends are wonderful !

My first post!

Well, I'm going to try the blogging world and see if I can keep this up better than my webpage!

So here I go...

We are all doing great! Marissa is just growing so fast and becoming such a neat little person. She is one month away from being 2 1/2. I just cannot believe how fast time goes...

We are almost at the end of our home construction. The drywall is up and the fireplace is in... next step is painting and fixtures and then carpet! Although it has went up in about 2 months, we are eager to get it done and put this construction behind us. Seems like every evening consists of either picking out a carpet or a fixture or making some decision.

Phillip continues to love his new job and works about 60 hours per week. He has already moved from a CNC programmer/machinest to a Quality Control Inspector. It's a lot of hard work, but the money is good and in today's economic hard times, it's nice to have a job that he can pretty much work any amount of hours.

I'm still at the law office and this is my 20th year there! Unbelievable, eh?

I think this is all for my first entry, so please visit again and hopefully it will be more interesting!

Have a happy day!

Kristi
